Dr. Catherine Brinkley is an Associate Professor in Human Ecology, Community and Regional Development at the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. With a PhD in city and regional planning, a veterinary medical degree, and a masters in virology, her research focuses on health equity and One Health, a concept that considers health shared between humans, animals and the environment. She is a former Fulbright Scholar, Watson Fellow, and National Science Foundation Career Award Winner.

She advances scholarship and practice on local governance, food systems, and sustainable development. Dr. Brinkley currently serves as the Faculty Director for the UC Davis Center for Regional Change, with a 16-year history of fostering community-engaged research that centers social equity and environmental justice. Past Lab Members

Marisa Coyne, Community Development MS focused on feminist geographies with attention to the role of diversity in knowledge formation for environmental and urban studies. After graduation in 2018, Marisa worked at the UCD student farm and made podcasts about food.

Scarlett Kingsley, Community Development MS focused on food security and animal welfare published her research with the lab: A method for guarding animal welfare and public health (2018). Scarlett was awarded a Fulbright Fellow to the Czech Republic after graduating in 2018. Joined OSU as an extension specialist in 2020 and started a PhD in 2021.

Caroline Kravitz, Community and Regional Development undergraduate focused on diet-related health in low-income neighborhoods. Caroline became an MPH student at Emory University in 2018., worked fort he CDC during COVID, and started her PhD in Public Health at Drexel University in 2022

Jacob Beck, visiting sociology undergraduate student from Germany focused on food network analysis in 2017. Jacob returned to Germany to finish his undergraduate work.

Evan Hazlett, visiting scholar from Harvard University (MA City and Regional Planning) focused on tracing the procurement network of restaurants in the local food system.

Breana Inoshita, Community and Regional Development BS focused on food desert interventions. Breana became a law student at UC Hastings after graduating in 2017.
